FAQ'S - Solo Ski Holidays | Single Ski Holidays

1. Are airport transfers included?

Yes, we will coordinate all your airport transfers on your behalf. These transfers are carried out by reputable airport transfer companies, and we offer flexibility in accommodating your arrival and departure times. Having this service arranged for you not only alleviates a significant source of stress but also results in substantial cost savings.

2. What's the best way to travel to resort?

Air Travel

If travelling to Chamonix or Les Houches the majority of our guests choose to fly to Geneva to take advantage of the airport transfers included in the holiday price.
A large number of airlines operate flights into and out of Geneva in Switzerland, including many no-frills airlines. Easy jet offer frequent, inexpensive flights from airports all over the UK. These flights tend to be cheaper if booked well in advance of the holiday dates. Other popular airlines include British Airways and Swiss Air.

If travelling to Serre Chevalier its best to fly Turin Airport to take advantage of the airport transfers included in the holiday price.

A useful website to visit is www.skyscanner.net, an online search engine for flights. The cheapest flight options will be displayed based on the departure and destination airports and dates inputted.

  • Please contact Cold Fusion to confirm the best time of arrival and departure.

Rail Travel

The popularity of rail travel is increasing due to benefits such as unlimited baggage allowance and free ski carriage, no long check in queues and being an environmentally friendly mode of transport.
Rail travel is possible between London and Geneva via Paris with Eurostar and TGV and can be booked through Rail Europe (http://www.raileurope.co.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=569). Ticket prices often match or better flight prices.
Guests travelling by train can still benefit from the airport transfers included in the holiday price by simply taking a short train connection (one stop) from the main train station in Geneva (Geneve CFF) to the airport. The connection is cheap and quick and there is an indoor walkway from the airport train station to the main arrivals hall where the driver will be waiting.

Self Drive

Guests wishing to drive to Chamonix, Les Houches or Serre Chervalier can do so as we have safe on-site parking for guests’ cars. We can also help with directions to the resort and/or chalet if required.

Our guests span a wide age range, from 20 to 70 years, with no age restrictions in place. Over the course of the week, the age of individuals staying in our chalet becomes inconsequential as they discover their shared interests and connections through skiing and snowboarding, transcending any age-related distinctions.

For the comfort of our older guests, we also offer dedicated "Over 50's Weeks" where they can opt to stay in a chalet with peers of a similar age. However, during our regular holiday periods, the age diversity among our guests is embraced, making each stay a unique and inclusive experience.

14. What is the transfer time from the airport to the chalets?

The transfer time is approximately 1.5 hours, traffic and weather conditions permitting.

15. Which ski pass do i need for Chamonix?

There are three ski passes available in Les Houches & Chamonix.

If you are a beginner and want to ski just the local area of Les Houches, you can purchse the chapest 'Les Houches Only Ski Pass'.

You then have the option of the standard 'Chamonix ski pass' which covers 4 out of the 5 mountains (not Les Houches) in the valley, where as the 'Mont Blanc Unlimted ski pass' covers all 5 mountains and Courmayeur in Italy and the Evasion Ski Area including St Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines . It also covers the extra mountain in Chamonix called the Aiguille Du Midi. This is a very famous mountain as it is the highest in Europe and it is where a famous off-piste skiing route starts from called the ‘Valle Blanche’. Many people come to Chamonix to see the views from the top of this lift and so we recommend if you get the chance to go up this lift to do so. Therefore if you are coming to Chamonix for off-piste skiing, amazing views, or a good intermediate to advance skier it is well worth opting for the Mont Blanc Unlimted Ski pass.

On the other hand if you are a beginner and on a budget we recommend opting for the Les Houches ski pass.

SUMMARY

  • Total Beginners: Don’t pre-book a ski pass and buy it on a day to day basis for the area where you are having your lesson.

  • Intermediates to Advanced: Mont Blanc Unlimted ski pass.

It is possible to do 8 days skiing within a week holiday in Chamonix.

You are able to do this as, unlike many other companies, we are flexible on your arrival and departure times when staying in the resort. This means it is possible to ski in the afternoon on the arrival day and in the morning before your departure flight as well as the 6 days in between.

When staying in Cervinia or Serre Chevalier its normally a 6 day ski week as the transfer times are more fixed.

17. Can i come with my friend or partner?

Yes, we welcome couples in all of our chalets and a small group of friends travelling together if the people travelling are looking for a social holiday. (max 4 poeple that know eachother)
