SKI & YOGA HOLIDAY

Cold Fusion Chalets have partnered with Professional yoga instructor to offer a mountain yoga getaway this April 2019.

Do you fancy experiencing a holiday where the emphasis is on relaxation and replenishment, nourishing and health conscious food, as well as spending as much time as possible on the slopes, skiing or snowboarding? If so, this is the holiday for you.

Whether you’re a seasoned skier looking for a healthier alternative to a chalet holiday or are new to the mountain lifestyle, we are here to support and arrange everything you need to make your snow time as enjoyable as possible.

We will practice daily yoga; in the morning to warm up and in the afternoon or evening to wind down.  It’s the perfect way to wake up the muscles and focus the mind before heading out; and to release any tension built up through physical exertion when you return from the mountain.

A variety of yoga practices, asana, pranayama, vinyasa and yoga nidra may be included in the sessions so you can experience and benefit from different yoga techniques designed to energise the body, calm the mind and nourish the soul.

Talking of nourishment, we have put together the ultimate menu for well being – healthy, vegetarian and decidedly delicious, you don’t have to worry about the usual bread, wine and cheese because we will be serving you wholesome and nutritious meals that will leave you feeling suitably energised and not sluggish.  But don’t worry there’ll be some (healthy) treats in there too.  And if you fancy a glass of wine a dinner, we totally support you in whatever makes you feel good!

Depending on your ski or boarding level we can arrange lessons, off piste guiding or you are free to roam on your own.  We have a Cold Fusion suggested itinerary (that is subject to change and according to conditions) which you are more than welcome to follow but whatever you decide we will accommodate.  It’s a great way to meet other skiers and snowboarders, who are also interested in a healthier style of snow holiday.  There’ll be 3 full free days at the end of the week so you are able to sample some of the local cuisine, take time out or enjoy plenty of other activities that are in the area such as walking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, local spa, markets, etc . Please note the mountains in Chamonix shut on the 1st May for skiing…

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or complete beginner, our qualified and experienced yoga instructor has designed a bespoke programme, and is on hand to guide you through the week.

Abi has spent a lifetime embracing yoga. As a child she was introduced to Iyengar yoga and then later discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Her yoga journey took her to Mysore, India, where she developed her personal practice before completing her yoga teacher training with John Scott.

Teaching from the heart, Abi is able to simplify and share her wisdom while demonstrating a true passion, providing each student with a real source of energy and inspiration.

Abi’s rich knowledge base as a past business professional, mountain and water sports enthusiast and mother of three, mixed with a diversity of yoga experience  ensures she is able to adapt and respond to the unique needs of her students and clients across a wide spectrum of backgrounds.

You Might Like to Know…

AM SNOW FLOW:
We begin our days with a Vinyasa Yoga class, a dynamic flow waking up all the muscles we will be using on our board or skis.  It will incorporate flowing sequences when breath and movement are synchronised to promote the flow of energy through the body along with held postures to improve alignment, build strength and develop flexibility. Synchronising movement and breath draws our attention inward, energising the body and calming the mind. Perfect preparation for an action packed day on the mountain.

PM RESTORE AND RELAX
In the afternoon, we have a restorative yoga practice, the perfect way to stretch out tired and aching body parts after the days activities. With a focus on the breath the aim will be to release tension throughout the body as we relax and soften into the postures.  The afternoon class is more about winding down and letting go with a gentle session usually incorporating elements of meditation and relaxation.

Sample day:

  • 8am Morning yang yoga (dynamic vinyasa “snow flow”)
  • 9.30am Healthy vegetarian breakfast with hot option, fresh juice/smoothie, homemade muesli etc
  • Time on the mountain to ski & snowboard
  • 1pm Group meet for a picnic lunch somewhere spectacularly scenic
  • 2pm Free time to ski more or head back to the chalet to chill, with afternoon pick up approx 3.30pm
  • 4pm Yin yoga (gentle and restorative)
  • 5.30pm Time for hot tub, shopping, reading, relaxing or a sunset walking meditation to the local waterfall
  • 7pm Healthy and delicious 3 course vegetarian meal
  • 8.30pm Yoga nidra (guided sleep meditation)
  1. Waterproof ski jacket
  2. Waterproof ski trousers
  3. Ski gloves or mittens
  4. Ski socks (comfortable feet are essential when skiing and so it is worth investing in a few good pairs of socks)
  5. Thermal base layers (it is advisable to layer your clothing when skiing so that you can remove layers if you become too hot and replace them when needed)
  6. Light fleeces/jumpers (to layer over a base layer and under your ski jacket) – thick jumpers can be bulky and restrict movement when worn under a ski jacket
  7. Warm hat (we recommend wearing a helmet when skiing, but this can be hired in resort)
  8. Goggles and good quality sunglasses (the sun is extremely powerful in the mountains and the reflection off the snow can be very strong on the eyes)
  9. Sunscreen/block for the face and neck
  10. Winter insurance – it is essential that your travel insurance covers you for winter sports as medical services are not cheap

It is possible to hire ski clothing from many UK outlets and this may be a cheaper option than buying all items before the holiday – please feel free to call us with any questions you may have about what to bring with you or indeed any aspect of the trip.

  • 5.30pm Time for hot tub, shopping, reading, relaxing or a sunset walking meditation

4th May – Saturday
