RELAXATION IN THE FRENCH ALPS…

SKI & YOGA HOLIDAY

Cold Fusion Chalets have partnered with Professional yoga instructor Natalie Fox to offer a mountain yoga getaway this April 2020.

Do you fancy experiencing a holiday where the emphasis is on relaxation and replenishment, nourishing and health conscious food, as well as spending as much time as possible on the slopes, skiing or snowboarding? If so, this is the holiday for you.

Whether you’re a seasoned skier looking for a healthier alternative to a chalet holiday or are new to the mountain lifestyle, we are here to support and arrange everything you need to make your snow time as enjoyable as possible.

We will practice daily yoga; in the morning to warm up and in the afternoon or evening to wind down.  It’s the perfect way to wake up the muscles and focus the mind before heading out; and to release any tension built up through physical exertion when you return from the mountain.

A variety of yoga practices, asana, pranayama, vinyasa and yoga nidra may be included in the sessions so you can experience and benefit from different yoga techniques designed to energise the body, calm the mind and nourish the soul.

Talking of nourishment, we have put together the ultimate menu for well being – healthy, vegetarian and decidedly delicious, you don’t have to worry about the usual bread, wine and cheese because we will be serving you wholesome and nutritious meals that will leave you feeling suitably energised and not sluggish.  But don’t worry there’ll be some (healthy) treats in there too.  And if you fancy a glass of wine a dinner, we totally support you in whatever makes you feel good!

Depending on your ski or boarding level we can arrange lessons, off piste guiding or you are free to roam on your own.  We have a Cold Fusion suggested itinerary (that is subject to change and according to conditions) which you are more than welcome to follow but whatever you decide we will accommodate.  It’s a great way to meet other skiers and snowboarders, who are also interested in a healthier style of snow holiday.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or complete beginner, our qualified and experienced yoga instructor has designed a bespoke programme, and is on hand to guide you through the week.

Yoga is an age old traditional practice and philosophy from India, undergoing continual transformation and reinvention in the modern day world.

Yoga can be explained in a multitude of ways, from the literal Sanskrit meaning “union” to the collection of asanas that are used as the building blocks to reach enlightenment. It has many teachers, branches and lineages that offer different approaches to suit all bodies and backgrounds.

Natalie @ YogaRama’s background:

I see yoga as a pathway to more awareness, acceptance and a deeper experience of “what is”. For me, that pathway is continually unfolding, breath by breath, yielding a chance to witness stillness when the mind is calm and offering expansion through conscious body movement. It is essentially tapping into the power of the heart, to reach the energy of creation that connects us all.

I was drawn to yoga to help train my body and improve my strength and flexibility for surfing. Yoga touched on something deeper within me and I became a student immediately. I began training as a teacher in India in 2010 and have taught yoga for the last 10 years all over the world. I am currently completing my 500hrs with Frog Lotus Yoga at Suryalila in Andalusia, Spain. Now, I see that I was yearning not only for a physical work out, but for a way to deal with my emotions, an understanding of my mind and a spiritual discipline. Nearly 20 years of practice and I am still learning about myself through yoga. During summers I teach surf specific yoga, pranayama and meditation at Soul and Surf in Portugal. I love the mountains in winter and have spent the last 3 years teaching yoga in the French Alps and working with Cold Fusion. I’m especially excited to lead the ski and yoga week this year.

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa means breath synchronised movement, and in this practice we stretch, strengthen and consciously transition between postures that help energise and wake us up. We look toward core stability to be the foundation of functional movement and develop our understanding of body mechanics through standing postures and balances. The morning flow is aimed to invigorate our minds and bodies, ready for time on the mountain.

Restorative Yin

Yin yoga works with connective tissue and fascia to provide a deeper release through long held (2-5 minutes) postures. The poses are simple, floor based and accessible for all, regardless of age, ability or ailments. It taps into a stillness that triggers deep breathing and helps relax the mind and nervous system. Yin yoga is perfect to practice after hours of fun sliding down the mountain; allowing dedicated time to restore, calm and unwind.

Throughout the week…..

We will also explore the energetic foundations of yoga and practice exorcises for the subtle body. This will involve connecting to the root chakra – which relates to the mountain – and helps cultivate grounding and strengthening in the physical body. We will use pranayama (breathwork), dhyana (meditation), yoga nidra (guided sleep meditation) and the doshas (Ayurvedic philosophy) as tools for working towards holistic health and well being, and to support our physical endeavours on the hill.

Yoga is such an individual journey but one we can all celebrate together. If you would like to discuss more or have any personal requirements, feel free to drop Natalie a line via email: ecoyogasurf@gmail.com
