MORZINE SKI CHALET – CHALET EAGLE

A contemporary ski chalet with an unbeatable central location…….

With it’s unbeatable town-centre location in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, it is easy to see why Chalet Eagle is one of our most popular chalets with our guests.
Both the Pleney and Super Morzine ski lifts are accessible on foot from the chalet and all of Morzine’s best bars and restaurants are on the chalet doorstep.  When it comes to location, this chalet wins hands-down every time.
In a unique contemporary chalet environment, 10 Cold Fusion guests can be comfortably accommodated in 5 spacious twin bedrooms with en-suite facilities including WC, handbasin, shower (2 bedrooms have bath tubs) and heated towel rails.
The bright and airy open plan living and dining area is a great place for socialising and dining and features a flat screen television with satellite channels, a Nintendo Wii console and Sonos sound system.
Towels, robes and slippers are also provided in all bedrooms.
A ski and snowboard storage area with heated boot warmers for ski and snowboard boots can also be found on the ground floor.

SLEEP...

The chalet features 5 large twin bedrooms spread out over 2 floors, all bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities including shower, WC, hand basin and heated towel rail. Three of these bathrooms also feature a bath tub. Linen and towels are provided.

EAT...

Breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal are served in the large open plan dining room. Guests can enjoy delicious food prepared by our chef  in front of them in the open-plan kitchen.  The dining room opens onto a large balcony overlooking the town of Morzine.

RELAX...

Cold Fusion chalet 3 offers a bright and airy lounge area in which Cold Fusion guests can socialize with a large television with satellite channels, DVD player with film library, Wii console with games and an iPod docking station.  There is a also a selection of board games available for guest use.

TRANSPORT...

As the Morzine chalet is located in the town centre, you will rarely need transport to get you to and from the ski lifts, shops, bars, etc. The only times you may need transport is to gain access to the lifts of other ski areas e.g. Avoriaz and surrounding resorts. If this is required, we have a private minibus on hand to take you there in the morning and pick you up at the end of the day.

SOOTHE

Cold Fusion guests can enjoy the complmentary spa facilities for 2 hours each afternoon including an indoor hot tub and sauna, situated on the first floor.

Sports massage is also available at an additional cost.

Natalie Fox is a 300hr hour qualified yoga teacher, fully insured and with 7 years teaching experience.  She began practicing in 2004, initially drawn to yoga to assist her physically for surfing. What she discovered was a whole world of holistic healing and began a journey to train and teach in India, Sri Lanka, Bali, Central America, France and Jersey. These days, yoga is about keeping in optimal health, uniting with nature and is an essential tool for finding flow, stillness and balance in these fast moving times.  She found her way back to Cornwall and teaches yoga and surfing there during the summers.  This winter she will be in Morzine offering bespoke classes to Chalet Eagle and is intent on delivering what each individual student needs best.  Her focus is on expanding connection, awareness and openness; where the space created leaves room for a healthier body, a calmer mind and more fun to be had on the mountain.

LOCATION

Cold Fusion chalet 3 is situated on the main high street in the town centre of Morzine and is only a short walk from the ski lifts. It offers easy access to various bars, shops, bars, restaurants, etc. for evening entertainment. There are numerous bars on the doorstep of the chalet with a great après-ski scene, perfect for a couple of drinks after an energetic day on the slopes. This chalet couldn’t be any more centrally located offering everything anyone could ask for and more!

Yoga at Chalet Eagle

Yoga for the slopes (all levels)

After an initial consultation, we look into how yoga can help your body for your chosen winter sport.  We begin to work with breath, postures and sequences specifically tailored to you.  This yoga class is also snow specific, and can be speeded up or slowed down depending on your energy levels, past injuries and desire to exert.  There is the option to truly relax and restore after a long day on the mountain or experience a more dynamic practice which involves strengthening legs and core – or even a combination of both.  It’s a case of finding what works for you and utilising what yoga techniques best support your body and mind.  The aim is develop and aid your mountain prowess, through body awareness and conscious breathing, for the best slope time possible.

 

Introduction to yoga (beginners)

This is a full immersion into the world of yoga for well being, starting with the foundations: breath, bandhas and postures.

We will work through a series of simple poses, adding in more challenging ones once students feel ready.  We will focus heavily on alignment, cover safety principles,

feature some philosophy and expand on the techniques of body awareness that are developed through a regular practice.  It will be a fun and enlightening experience, rooted in relaxation so that the information and learning is easily absorbed.

Yin/yang (intermediate)

Yoga is about moving energy or “prana” around the body to achieve optimal health and well being.  Yin and yang refers to the opposing forces that help balance our entire world – inside and out.  When we feel lethargic and unmotivated, it could be due to a yin imbalance, so using a yoga practice to ignite movement and flow will help create more energy.

On the other hand, when we are ready to settle at night, sometimes our minds can go into overdrive, inhibiting the most important part of restoration, ready for the next day.  Learning how to relax through yin yoga can have an equally restful effect on the mind, as well as the body due to triggering the para-sympathetic nervous system.  Learn to use the energy of yin and yang within your yoga practice as a way to incorporate balance in all areas of our busy lives.

Quantum Yoga (advanced)

Yoga and Ayurveda are historically intertwined having both originated in India approx 5000 years ago.  According to Ayurveda we are born with one body-mind constitution (dosha), which can become imbalanced due to external or environmental factors, the result being dis-ease and dis-harmony.  This make up consists of energetic forces related to Air (Vata), Fire (Pitta) and Earth (Kapha), and can be deciphered when we look closely at our functioning systems (metabolism, heart rate, BMI, moods, character traits etc).  Quantum yoga uses the identifying process of Ayurvedic doshas to find a prescriptive yoga practice, designed specifically to balance a person’s individual Dosha.  The sequences are physically demanding so require practitioners to be well versed in yoga and is therefore recommended for advanced students only.

1 hr Group classes (3 – 6 people)

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa means breath syncronised movement, and in this practice we stretch, strengthen and consciously transition between postures that help energise and wake us up.

We look toward core stability to be the foundation of functional movement and develop our understanding of body mechanics through standing postures and arm balances,

aimed to invigorate our minds and bodies.  The pace is fast and flowing, but with ample time for relaxation.

 

Gentle yin/yang flow 

Using the combination of flow and stillness, we observe the sensations in our bodies and minds for a mindful practice.  Less emphasis on movement means we can reside in poses for longer and feel into the benefits of a tradition hatha style of yoga.  We’ll also be incorporating longer holds as in yin as well as moon or sun salutations to create heat.  This combination provides a well rounded and balanced practice.

 

Restorative Yin 

Yin yoga works with connective tissue and fascia to provide a deeper release through long held (2-5 minutes) postures.  The poses are simple, all floor based and accessible for all, regardless of age, ability or ailments.  It taps into a stillness that triggers deep breathing and helps relax the mind, allowing for a restorative, cooling and calming practice that is perfect to unwind with.
